Dave played high school baseball at Tiverton High School from 1990 – 1992. After a brief stint as a player at Rhode Island College, he immediately embarked on a future in coaching returning to Tiverton High School as a volunteer assistant coach in 1993. He stayed in that position through the 1997 season. During this time, he also coached in Tiverton Little League (1993) and was a founding board member and coach in the Sakonnet Babe Ruth Baseball League (1994). In 1997, he founded and managed the area’s very first “travel” baseball organization, the Sakonnet Mariners which had two teams for players ages 13 – 16. In 1998, he became the Assistant Coach/Head JV Coach at Tiverton High School. That summer, he also became the Head Coach of the Portsmouth/Tiverton American Legion Baseball program and in 1999 led the program to the RI Final Four, defeating a previously undefeated Collette Vacations Post 25 team which featured current MLB player Chris Ianetta. In 2000, he was hired as the Head Baseball Coach at Portsmouth High School, a position he held until his resignation following the 2008 season. At Portsmouth, Dave’s built the program into one of the best in the state of Rhode Island, transitioning the team from a Division II program into a Division I program. He coached his 2005 team to a RI State Division 2 Runner Up finish, his 2006 team to a RI State Division 2 Championship, and his 2007 team to a National High School Baseball Coaches Association/Baseball America #40 national ranking. He was also honored as the ABCA/Diamond Division 2 Northeast High School Coach of the Year in 2007 and in 2010 was honored by the RI American Legion Baseball League as its Mark Hutchins Sr. Memorial; Award winner for his embodiment of the ideals of American Legion Baseball. After a six year “retirement”, Dave was hired as Head Baseball Coach at B.M.C. Durfee High School. In 5 seasons at Durfee, his teams posted an overall record of 63 – 46 and qualified for the MIAA Division 1 South Sectional Tournament in 4 of his 5 seasons, including two appearances in the MIAA Division 1 South Sectional Semifinals (2017, 2019).  In 2019, Dave won his 200th career game as a high school Varsity Head Coach when his Durfee team defeated Fairhaven High School on May 2. Dave continued to be the General Manager and Head Coach of the Newport County American Legion Baseball program, giving up the Head Coach position for the 2015 season. In 2016, he became General Manager/Head Coach of the Hathaway (Somerset) Post 228 American Legion Baseball program. He was the original Travel Team Director of the ITZ Thunder Developmental Travel Baseball Program from September 2009 – August 2013 , and in August 2013 was a founder and the first Program Director of the Newport Junior Gulls Developmental Travel Baseball Program before leaving the post in September 2015. In November 2019, Dave accepted the position of Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Joseph Case High School in Swansea, MA.
