Jay is a Fall River, MA native. He attended Diman Regional Voc.-Tech. High School from 2002-2005, where he played for legendary coach John Pacheco as well as current Diman Head Baseball Coach Floriano Lima. He was a two-year starter for the Bengals. In his junior season, his team achieved an 18-0 regular season record. In his senior campaign of 2005, Jay was named a team captain, and, following the season, was named the team’s Most Outstanding Player, Mayflower League All-Star, and Fall River Herald News All-Scholastic. During his summers, he played for Fall River Post 314 American Legion, winning the Zone 9 Championship in 2005, and Maplewood Babe Ruth League, winning consecutive state championships from 2002 – 2004. Following high school, Jay played one season at Massasoit Community College before entering the workforce full time. Still active today as a player, Jay has played in the Fall River Independent Baseball League (2008 2016), the George Donnelly Sunset League (2012 – 2016), and the Rhode Island Mens’ Senior Baseball League (2011 – present). He started his coaching career in 2015 as an Assistant Baseball Coach at B.M.C. Durfee High School in Fall River MA, working with OPS President Dave Ulmschneider, a position he held through the 2019 season.. He has served as a hitting and catching instructor at In The Zone Baseball Club from 2015 – 2016 and at Inside The Park from 2016 – present. He served as an Assistant Coach / Interim Head Coach of the Jr. Bay Sox 12u Red Team in the program’s inaugural season of 2017, leading them to the Dugout Dawgs Cape Cod Wood Bat 12u Tournament Championship. In November 2019, Jay accepted an assistant coach position at Joseph Case High School in Swansea, MA.
