Coach Mitsmenn was a 4-year Varsity starter at Saint Raphael Academy from 2010-2013 playing centerfield, while also contributing on the mound. He was a team captain in his junior and senior seasons. Throughout his high school career, Coach Mitsmenn was named to 3 First Team RIBCA All Division, including 3 All-Star Game appearances. He won the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award his senior year, for the top male student-athlete in Rhode Island.

After high school, Coach Mitsmenn played collegiate baseball at NCAA’s Division II Eckerd College in the Sunshine State Conference in St. Petersburg, Florida from 2013-2016. He played 3 seasons at Eckerd, with his first career HR – a 2 out grand slam – providing the game winning runs to help Eckerd upset #4 ranked Nova Southeastern 7-4. He won Eckerd College’s top senior male scholar-athlete in 2016. He was also voted to the SSC Commissioner’s High Honor Roll all 3 years.

He played his summer ball for Collette Vacations Senior American Legion Team for 5 seasons, winning the Rhode Island State Championship in 2014 playing for Coach Jim Mello.  Coach Mitsmenn won the Most Valuable Player award for his contribution at the plate, on the mound, and in the field during Collette’s playoff run.

He has contributed to various coaching staffs in some capacity over the last few years, most notably volunteering for Jim Mello’s Senior Legion Teams in 2016 and 2017. Coach Mitsmenn has also been an instructor in many youth baseball clinics/camps, as well as individual private lessons.
